Des, terrific series and outstanding photos. Noticed the one youngster winked at you prior to take off.
Thanks Bob. Yes, I liked the wink too.

A nice series you've posted there.

Now there's a lens testing bird, because their feather detail is so fine. Nice shooting. #2 is excellent.

This might have been better if I hadn't underexposed it so much.

yard birds

normhead, thank you, considering the quality of your bird photos your comment means a great deal to me. And so far I am extremely pleased with the results of that lens. And I took your advice, most of my bird shots are taken with the DA 1.4x TC mounted to that 150-450, depending on available light.
1st shot, a crop of a rear view on the male cedar waxwing, I can't believe how the red shows up.
2nd & 3rd shots, just patched a spot in my lawn..turkey decided it was a nice place for a dirt bath.
Best Regards, Bob

Brown Thrasher

Lucky me, the thrashers built a nest in a bush in my front yard. For a couple of weeks enjoyed hearing the male singing from tops of the highest trees. Now have the pleasure to watch the parents feeding the chicks.
Des, I do not have a very good view of the nest so I will not be able to get shots like the ones you posted, nor can I get quite the detail & sharpness that you obtained but I am having fun...

Best Regards, Bob

Norm's right. You're in hot form Bob. These are terrific.

Always seems a privilege when wildlife make a home in your place - and a reminder that we are custodians, not owners.
