I know what you mean about having the wrong lens on. When I have 2 cameras (1 for macro and 1 for birding), I think I need a 3rd. So I try not to "see" things I can't photograph.

Here's a red belly woodpecker trying to call it's baby out of the nest
Gorgeous woodpecker shot.
I used to roll my eyes when I saw people with multiple cameras around their necks. Now, not so much...

Bluejays are a really crazy bird, have a bunch of them around & got a shot of one that was also not concerned about me. Nice shot you got there.

Best Regards, Bob

They are! They're very clever birds with a sophisticated vocabulary. I suspect the one who was unconcerned by your proximity was a young one

Thanks for mentioning that, looks like a young one to me but was not sure. There were several of them jumping around in the apple tree making strange sounds slightly different than their regular strange sounds. Some folks consider them to be a pest, I find them entertaining & I think they are pretty.
Best Regards, Bob

Used to consider them pests until the grackles got here. Now the grackles are the poets. Being the "pest" is a tough job but someone has to do it.

same bluejay

A different pose from the youngster. In the fall I typically have 36 to 40 jays around, gets pretty wild then... Of course right now I have catbirds nesting all around the yard and they are constantly scolding me & the dog, OH and also the towhees chewing me out, keeps life interesting.... Not sure if the brown thrashers have a second brood, for right now the male is back to singing up a storm & the young males trying to sing...fun on the farm.

Best Regards, Bob

Two young Robins that are not talking to each other. The one on the right in the shade has a problem with one leg and does not stand on it, stays on one leg all the time.
Eight days since Mother Robin brought them out of their cover to see the wide world so it has lasted beyond my forecast on one leg.
