I did get one today...

K-1 and DA 55-300 in FF mode. It worked out much better than I expected. Not much vignetting at all.

Fantastic!

A pleasant surprise this morning - an Eastern Wood-Pewee flycatching from one of the cables across our garden. A first for our yard. Also one of a small "charm" of Goldfinches that's still hanging around.

None of the birds you guys have in Australia come to visit here. It's a travel industry conspiracy to make us folks who like takin bird photos have to travel the world looking for new birds once we have pictures of all the one that come to our back yard. Nefarious capitalists are paying birds to stay on their home continents.

A few birds have made it here from Europe, I think Australian birds are too dumb to figure out how to get here.

The ridiculous conspiracy theories real people on the internet subscribe to are starting to get to me.

We have had a few birds lately in southern Ontario that belong in Mexico (Great Kiskadee), on the Gulf coast (Reddish Egret) or southern US (Snowy Egret). Maybe the hurricanes have something to do with it. Newfoundland is the place to be if you want European vagrants. They attract birders from miles around, but it's a matter of opinion as to whether they are "rare and exotic" or "lost and confused"!

Even with people the two terms can almost be used interchangeably.

My wife rescued an exhausted hummingbird from a local Walmart floor, brought her home, and nursed her to health (took about 30 minutes). This particular pic was soon after she got it home. Poor bird was spent....some time and a spoon full of that nectar sugar stuff and the hummer lady was just fine. Wrong to relocate?....yes, but she would've been shopping cart road kill. At what point does morality overrule letting nature takes its' course?....not a rhetorical question...too many smart people here not to offer a well thought out opinion....I'm just curious. In regards to the hummingbird my wife save...yes I think she did the right thing. Would that little hummer have died?...most definitely....is the hummer likely to fulfill her purpose of making more little hummers?...probably yes. Did my wife disrupt Mother Nature!!!!!!!?

We've had to rescue hummingbirds when they flew in the front door, but not ones that would hold still for us. I
Very cool.

I think your wife did an amazing thing in saving the little hummer. A compassionate person your wife is, and tell her I said thanks from an animal lover.

St. Peter: "Sorry ma'am, I can't let you in--you rescued a hummingbird."
I don't think so.
