A migrating Magnolia Warbler (immature female) made a brief stop in my yard this past weekend.

From a week ago, we've been away visiting.....















From today, I finally got an image of that black squirrel that's been hanging around. I opened the kitchen window and used the Tamron 300 2.8 with the 2x to get it. People have suggested the black squirrels might negatively affect our local red squirrels, but the red squirrels were running him off when they saw him.

I had a few minutes this evening... A lone nuthatch being brave while I snapped a few pictures.

Tess has been telling me, the woods are full of Pine Siskins up on the ridge. Today a group made it down to the feeders.

Looks like my crew. Especially now that it looks like all my sparrows except the Juncos have left for warmer climates.

Sparrows are starting to pass through. They say "hi".

I have a group of 6 bluejays, a few Cardinals and a red bellied woodpecker that are still a little camera shy right now.

Dreary day, but at least I did get to sit outside for a bit, and listen to the wintry mix fall through the leaves still on the trees.

I had some sun today. I had to shovel like mad to get the driveway done so I'd have some time for shooting. Unfortunately that meant the main population was chickadees. It looks like my six all had young that re hanging around. It's a ridiculous number att he moment.

I think these guys pick up a shell and if they can't crack it they toss it. That way they won't have to deal with it again. It also leaves all kinds of feed under the feeders for the bigger birds. Blue Jays and Grosbeaks often don't bother with the feeders, they just look for what the smaller birds have tossed over the side.

A departure today, because I don't have a 150-450 I have to decide in advance what I'm shooting with. I knew I had a chance at some Pine Grosbeaks and we have a Robin still with us despite the unusual cold, so I took out the DA* 60-250 with the HD DA 1.4 TC on it.
