Worth the wait David. Great capture.

Just liked the sheen on the feathers
So do I, KD. Corvids are underrated - they can be very photogenic.

Two with the FA*300 f4.5 and a little fill flash. (X-posted from 300mm+ thread)

Bertrand, our resident Grey Shrike-thrush. With the K-3.

Pentax K50 + Jupiter 21M 200mm f/4 @ f/5.6

This little fella crashed into our sliding door, a few days ago. He got knocked out so long that I thought he'd die.
Then he opened his eyes but it was like he'd forgot how to bird. I picked him up and he stayed perched on my finger for at least 10 minutes.
Eventually, his instinct came back and he flew away into this tree where he stayed until the next morning.

More vultures. Apparently they've been moving northward into Southwestern Ontario since the ealy 1900s. Sometimes there are quite large numbers of the circling around in the evening, preparing to roost. We certainly get roadkill in our neighbourhood, and in our city (London) , but I wouldn't think there would be enough to support that many large birds.

These were in a tree just a few doors down from our place one morning, a few days ago. These could be the parents, siblings or cousins of the fuzzy one I posted upthread.

autumn migration

Believe this is an immature magnolia warbler male. Waited about 20 minutes for it to come out of the canopy and be somewhat in the open for a chance shot. There were several of them in the birch this afternoon but they did not seem interested in having their photo taken. This one appears a bit annoyed with me. Photographing birds is an awesome challenge but quite enjoyable.
Best Regards, Bob

An Osprey scoping out this spring's Canadian Goose hatchlings. He circled for awhile but didn't score any snacks that day.

Danger in the sky...

big yard birds

Was able to sneak to about 75 meters and took this shot. Then attempted to get closer but they spotted me and left. This is at the edge of my yard and often they are in the yard...hence they be yard birds.
Best Regards, Bob

a different big yard bird

Spotted this turkey vulture perched in one of the old trees in the yard this morning. We had a light rain last night so I guess it found a nice place to dry off.
Best Regards, Bob
