A female Cardinal waiting her turn for the feeder. The male is never too far away, but I didn't see him. (x-posted in the Bokeh thread)

In between storms Ciara and Dennis I saw this lone Starling visiting the garden birdfeeder.
I suspect a little more sunshine may have revealed the full gamut of colour it can show.
55-300mm at 300mm with K-5.

Perfectly back lit.
I've seen photographers spend a half hour trying to get the lighting like that.

I don't know if I posted this one yet. I am still not able to get outside to shoot some birds but the Robins showed up in my backyard looking for water on their way back north. One obliged me and I got this shot through my west window with the HD 55-300mm WR ED lens. Taken on a late December day.

Algonquin Park is almost like my backyard, I can walk to it right out the back door. To where this image was taken it would be 10 KM, but, it's a Texas sized back yard.

It was a glorious day to go to the park, so I went.
K-3 and DA*60-250 with the HD DA1.4 C.

Hey Norm,I’ll also admit to interpreting “backyard” pretty liberally too

You would think the criteria would be it's easier to photograph the birds in your back yard, but these guys are much easier to photograph than mine. There are more people coming though all the time and they are much more habituated to humans. If there was another photographer with me they could have had an image of a chickadee resting on my camera lens.

On one of my regular dog walks there’s an old girl who feeds robins from her hand.I must ask her if I can get a photo of it.

I love those shots.... my most recent... my buddy Dave and a Canada Jay... but if I go back through the years I have many.

Find out for me what she feeds the Robins of you can, oh wait, your Robins are different.
