Olive Whistlers live in the higher-rainfall areas in south-eastern Australia (including Tasmania). They are not common anywhere and rather shy - you can spent years walking in the bush in these areas without seeing one (although you will probably hear their lovely song). So it's a privilege that we have resident ones in our gully who, after many years, have become quite friendly. This year we have had two chicks visit. The fee for modelling has been a little scrambled egg. These are all of the first chick.

KP + DA 55-300 PLM

I applied a couple of filters in Nik Color Efex (the free Google version) after processing in DxO PL4. The results have been pleasing.

Many thanks indeed Rod. I'm really pleased with how these came out. The old formula of getting close is, of course, the key - the KP + PLM combination provides just amazing resolution and lovely rendering when you are close. But after processing in PhotoLab in my usual way, I exported to Nik Color Efex and got a surprising amount of extra zing from playing around with filters (particularly the Detail Extractor and Darken/Lighten Center filters and Tonal Contrast filter). I haven't used Color Efex before, but just watched a couple of videos and had a go - it's not difficult, just a bit of guided trial and error.

For anyone interested, here's a couple to start with :
BTW, although these are about DxO version of Nik, the essentials seem to be largely unchanged from the free Google 2012 version. It works as a plugin for Lightroom, PS and other programs. The old 2012 version is still downloadable for free from DxO: https://nikcollection.dxo.com/nik-collection-2012/

My neighbor's (non-resident) son had the urge to put out corn for the deer. What we got was crows instead--hundreds of them and not the quiet variety (if there is such a thing--which I doubt.)
