Many thanks indeed Rod. I'm really pleased with how these came out. The old formula of getting close is, of course, the key - the KP + PLM combination provides just amazing resolution and lovely rendering when you are close. But after processing in PhotoLab in my usual way, I exported to Nik Color Efex and got a surprising amount of extra zing from playing around with filters (particularly the Detail Extractor and Darken/Lighten Center filters and Tonal Contrast filter). I haven't used Color Efex before, but just watched a couple of videos and had a go - it's not difficult, just a bit of guided trial and error.

BTW, although these are about DxO version of Nik, the essentials seem to be largely unchanged from the free Google 2012 version. It works as a plugin for Lightroom, PS and other programs. The old 2012 version is still downloadable for free from DxO:
