A life of it's own!

This thread has taken on a life of it's own and I do believe I'm enjoying it as much if not more than any other section of the entire forum! Great posts and images, guys/gals! Keep 'em comin'! Now that winter has set in (Three inches of snow predicted for tomorrow!), any flower shots from me will have to be ones of flowers from the supermarket! But, that only calls for a more creative approach, eh? How about showing me some "reds"?

Translucent flower on a third too.

That is a very interesting flower. I don't ever recall having seen one with an iridescent sheen like that. Cool.

Roses this time of year are nowhere near as lush as over the summer, but this pair (or is it a trio?) caught my eye as the early morning light gave a nice glow. I probably could've found a better example, but I was out walking the dog with several others and didn't want to fall too far behind! Sigma 17-70 DC Macro.

Because we have such a long winter here (~5 months of it) we take tons of flower shots all through spring/summer/fall of my wife's perennial gardens. I will usually just file them away as we go then go back through them in the winter to process them. Brings some beautiful colors of summer while dredging through the long dreary days. Nothing to shoot around the homestead from now until April or so except white ground and grey skies. Project for this winter is to set up a little macro still life table to keep doing some shooting (other than flowers of course).

With a little imagination, that could be a satellite photo of a hurricane! Nice capture.... certainly "light and fluffy"!

When I go walkies , there are several yards with outstanding flowers ..
I should go door knocking and ask if I can photograph the flowers ..
Some are truly fantastic , and you can see the care taken ..

Do that! And post some pictures of them. See if you can work with reds. I have a hell of a time with them. They always seem to wash out, with very little detail. I noticed even EagleM's reds are lacking in detail, in comparison to other colors.
