Some snaps with the SMC-M 50mm f4 Macro (with fungus... it's a lens worth fixing I think, or maybe I'll donate it to someone who knows how to clean it).

A tomato flower

A fly on a sunflower that my son planted

And the whole sunflower...

Another Favourite

That time of year again for the Sea Holly (Eryngium 'Blue Steel')...

It never ceases to amaze me... it turns Blue/Purple flower and then the colour travels back down the stalk.

That is really nice. I have one surviving Sea Holly from several planted =many years ago, but never has any produced a flower head as handsome as the one pictured.

Thanks, I think this is only the second or third year that this particular plant has been in this particular spot.

I actually get Lady Kerrowdown to plant my known favourites in good places for photography i.e. clean backgrounds and good lighting positions. So various plantings can often look quite strange... but there is reason behind some of the resplendent isolations.

I realised I had commented on the stem colours and not shown them... so I posted this today by way of a follow on.

That image is a winner as well. Mostly I do the planting, determined less by potential photo merit than by potential to survive. I have brown thumbs, slightly withered.

That's why Lady Kerrowdown deals with such matters...
