Illinois Bundleflower, a native Mimosa. Note the little flies on each branch where there appear to be some sort of gland, maybe a nectary to encourage ants to care for the plant? When I say small, I mean small. These are the tiny gnat flies I only seem to see when looking at pictures.

Taking the title literally, to mean "plants that have no flowers on them at this time", instead of "non-flowering plants", since the pokeberries shown below couldn't have happened without the plant having flowers at some time. It's sort of like the cops' argument, "We know you were in possession of the marijuana at some point recently because of the residue in your pipe, so you're guilty of the possession charge, even though we didn't find any on you." (late afternoon, K-1 w/100mm f/2.8 macro)
