Public art of another kind, this impressive sculpture overlooked the beach near Cottesloe Beach on the Western Australian Coast. From the side it seems 'solid' but from the rear it is made from a weathered steel lattice that is quite ephemeral given the size and nature of the construction - brilliant. MX TMax 100 M50 1.7

The surfer-sculpture is clever and practical = minimum resistance offered to oncoming wind & waves. I'm not a fan of all modern art, but I've seen many modern sculptures that really are wonderfully imaginative, original, intriguing creations. Somehow artists working with metal, wood, stone, etc made some sort of breakthrough perhaps three or four decades back such that they felt freed and inspired to do wonderful new things.

LIC - I do have a better shot of this (more stable and wider angle). Will post when I find it. K 55/1.8

Got a wad of Street art yesterday, it's part of a project in a suburb of Westdene, with various artists invited to do some work in walls. Residents have embraced the project and made available their properties and walls. Got about 30+ yesterday So I'll be posting those. Starting though with these 3 from another location that I got on Saturday.
