Thematic Show me your best "missed" photo

Sometime, we miss a super shot,

so the goal here is to show us the photo you didn't published because you thought it was not good enough... It could be that it was not framed correctly, out of focus, too dark, too exposed, blurred, etc...

for example here the subject is out of focus, and if I could have nailed it, that would have been a super photo... (I think!)

both neighbourhood cats, they move too much for my manual focus lens

i use these old 50mms (f/1.7) from the 70's
i did publish both photos by the way, but i wanted to show them ayway

This didn't end up making it past the cutting room floor of my photojournalism class (which mostly consisted of me seeing how far I could bend the rules for 'newsworthy' subjects), but I love the story I saw: a woman watching a man walk away while the lights above read her thoughts, "I Will Wait For You". The rain was coming down so hard on my K-x that I think we both counted as storm-troopers after that.

This is another one I missed, it was at night with a DA 10-17 fisheye lens, and I thought I had the focus right on infinity... but nope ! I missed the focus, otherwise, it could have been a really great shot!
And the bad is I did that when I was canoeing up north (a 30 day trip), and there is no way I can redo the shooting at the same spot...

just too bad...
