Thematic Sunsets

Shouldn't have been out taking pictures (doctor won't be happy!), but couldn't resist this:

sun setting in New York, through smoke from all of the fires to the west. K-3II and HD DA 16-85mm.

Nice shot! I saw sunsets like this in Japan. We don't get them in Australia unless there's a bushfire.

The boathouses at Lake Grapevine TX, June 2017. I used to live walking distance from this area.

It's so smoky here I can't see hardly anything, but I got a cool shot of the sun barely shining through just before it set tonight. I used my old Tamron 500 mirror and a made in Japan but otherwise unmarked 2x convertor.

Thanks, we had a few of these the last days, probably because of all the moisture in the air (no wildfires over here).

On the occasion I saw a sunset like this in Japan, it was smog from Tokyo. Glad to hear that you don't have fires! Floods aren't fun either.

Indeed, these extreme weather conditions are best avoided, even when they offer nice photo ops like these.
