Both excellent! Gorgeous! That sets the bar for a desert photo
Thank you. And I agree, Glenn's shot is very very nice still I'm not convinced that is really desert. Looks like a lot of vegetation to me? but I wouldn't know we don't have deserts here.

The Sonoran Desert here in the southwest of the US receives a low enough annual rainfall to be classified as a desert, but as far as deserts are concerned, it is very "wet". A bi-seasonal rainfall pattern (spring & late summer/fall) results in more plant species than any other desert in the world. In places, the ground vegetation can be so thick that it is very difficult to walk through.

Just some info...now back to sunsets, wherever they may be.

Michael, I love the first one.
For the second perhaps you should have stood on tippy toes to increase the offset between the horizon and the breakwater (or whatever it is).
(But then sometimes you have to make do with the height you were born to be and the environment - if you know what I mean.)
Thank you Rod, I really like the first one too. I never noticed that about the second one. I could have stood on some higher ground to offset the horizon. I will have to try to remember that next time.

Nice shots yourself, Michael. Here's a couple from earlier in the week, using an *ist D with an Image 28/2.8, either at f/5.6 or f/8 (xposted):

Grabbing a few phone cam snaps:
Thank you Paul, I really like the first one. Those bursts coming off the sun are great.

Not as stunning as others. Taken while camping along Lake Michigan.

I just got back from 10 or 11 days in Wyoming. The highlight was the 2 days in the Pryor Mountains surrounded by mustangs. Steve Cerroni, the driver/guide suggested that instead of the usual 9-4 day, we do a late start so I could get some sunset shots.

Nice looking clouds! Is that snow in the 2nd one, or an IR effect?
