I remember reading of a pro photographer who when asked what was his most important piece of equipment, he replied 'my alarm clock'.
But I rarely am up early enough for sunrises, like you too.

I hate to think that would be the most important piece of equipment for a pro photographer, but on the other hand I don't think I'll ever manage that status.
