Okay, here is my attempt.
done in lightroom and PS.
1 lowered color temp, exposure and added more contrast
2 cropped the light, I felt it took too much space in the reflection, and cropped the top so reflection and houses matched eachother.
3. exported to PS
4 color ranged the sky, and created a new layer with that, changed layer mode to linear burn and lowered opacity.
5 some selective tweaking of the color range selection,
6. done
7. to come, probably... I should fix some things that annoy me. But I have a super busy week ahead of me,with 12 to 20 hour workdays from tuesday to sunday.

Edit: I took care of the sky being darker than the reflection. Decided it annoyed the hell out of me and could not leave it even for the time being.

had another version going concurrently in gimp that had an aurora going on in the sky that I liked better than this one, but for some reason gimp crashed after I closed this version out, so going with this one...

edit: I was bored so adding a couple more

It's not a challenge to post process an already-good photo!

My goal here was to create a sunset-invoking scene, building off the time of day when you took the shot. I went for a muted tone look that was based on the already-inherent colors in the image to bring out the illuminating tones and reduce the colors that are less vibrant after the sun dips behind the horizon.

I forced myself to learn a little Photoshop this week. I used Lightroom 5 and Photomatix Pro to get the buildings and reflections the way I imagined the scene. I then used Photoshop for the sky and foreground reflection. I manually masked this (because I don't know how to do it any other way) and had to watch a few tutorials to learn how to mirror the sky for the reflection. I used a photo I took recently for the sky.

Another attempt

I am really enjoying these post processing challenges. It is great to see the different ideas and approaches everyone has. I tried something a little different (at least for me).

Good morning..... turned that sunset into a sunrise. Early morning tranquility, hot coffee on the dock with that brisk morning air.

I'm with Aston on this.

This spoke to me the same way when I saw this picture. Here is my PP of this photo. Added a little sunrise, added some cloud effect into the water for a fog type of look, and saturation levels changed amongst other things.

Thought this image was suited to B/W with all the textures and lines.
