Congrats! Great last picture, so very fitting. This thread has been a great joy to follow, and I can't believe it's been a year.

Dan,
Been enjoying this one silently (on the internet - laughing out loud in my seat, especially at 365). Very creative and excellent work.

Idle hands huh?

I recon you deserve a holiday now, Dan. You've kept us in anticipation for a whole year with your wit and imagination. Not many people can say that! What a magnificent effort. We're gonna miss your little LEGO community and their trials and tribulations

Congratulations just doesn't seem appropriate for your talent and stamina

Very interesting.

a serious question now - does anyone know what my rights are as far as offering prints? I've had some people tell me that i can sell them no problem, and some tell me that it's copyright infringement on LEGO trademarks.
obviously I don't want to get into trouble.
I've looked at the LEGO site, and haven't really found much help on it. So I am curious if anyone knows anything about this sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure you could sell a beautiful picture of a Ferrari to someone without asking Ferrari first. Same goes for LEGOs.

When you buy legos you buy the rights to those legos.

You can do whatever you'd like with them.

You can do what you like with prints as far as intellectual property goes i.e. logos. So yes you can sell prints of your awesome Lego work.

is there documentation you could point me to for this? something that mentions something about trademarks, or copyrights? I know the Lego LOGO, is copyrighted and trademarked, but I think their figures are too? It's hard to tell.
I read through their fairplay section on their website, but it didn't tell me much.

i really would like definite, literal proof somewhere.

Have you considered writing them and ask? Include a couple of your photos as examples.

i have, but my fear is that if i contact them directly, i am completely putting the ball in their court. i fear if they say "no" or "you can't do this" or "we'll be watching you" then i have no recourse and i am screwed.
