Another bump. More from the Red Hill Show last year. K-S2 + DA 55-300 PLM. The sheep might be a Corriedale, but I'm not sure.

I think it's the same breed: Holstein Friesian cattle - Wikipedia Farmers here traditionally called them Friesians, but Holstein seems to be the more common term now. They are easily the most common dairy breed in Australia.

I should have added that the reddish cows in this herd are probably part-Ayreshires.

I think they are usually called Holsteins in Wisconsin, but I'm not sure if they used to be called Friesians there.

My grandmother's favorite dairy breed -- for a family milk cow, not for a dairy herd -- was the Jersey, not known for anything like the Hosltein's amount of milk production, but known for rich milk, something good if a family was making its own butter.

Very nice shots Rod. The breeds like Dorpers that shed their fleeces seem to be getting more common and it seems there is a lot of breed development going on: Shedding Sheep Breeds. These aren't Dorpers and I have no idea what breed they are.

Looks to me like a Charolais bull, but then I'm just a city guy. And the object of his affection? Not sure. A hornless shorthorn?

Who knew bulls could be such romantics? Must be Charolais, they're from France! Nice image Steve.

Merino lambs and ewes near Thorpdale in the Strzelecki ranges, Victoria. The chocolate soil is the result of old volcanoes. The area is known for its potatoes, but because the soil drains well it also seems to be good for merinos, which otherwise don't thrive in high-rainfall areas like this. K-3 + FA*300 f4.5

Bit worried about these lambs playing by the dam.
