Stopped to take a picture of a valley and this mob turned up behind me.
It was the highlight of their day. They don't see many Pentaxes.

Well most of the traffic stayed in the correct lane. Nice shots @scratchpaddy

Thanks for sharing it here. Terrific series. Do you happen to know what breed of chicken it is? (It's OK, it's not a test!)

That's a barred Plymouth Rock. They were the most popular breed in the US from the late-19th to the mid-20th century. My mom went through a backyard-chicken phase years ago, and she had a couple of barred Plymouth Rocks like that. I'll have to see if I can dig up those pictures. It was always funny watching them walk around and bob their heads, like pigeons. And the noises they made! "Yuk yuk! Whaaaaa?"

I think these are Wyandotten.

There are some that look similar: https://www.huehner-haltung.de/arten/huehnerrassen/

Seems you are both on the right track.

The Plymouth Rock and Barred Wyandotte breeds do look similar:
Barred Wyandottes - Genetics and Breeding
https://www.backyardchickencoops.com.au/blogs/learning-centre/plymouth-rock-...ehensive-guide

The explanation comes from the Barred Wyandotte page linked above: "Barred variety of Wyandotte was actually created in Germany through crossings of Barred Rocks [ie Plymouth Rocks] and Black Wyandottes".

That's really interesting! I didn't notice that the pictures were from Germany, so an American breed was less likely. I really don't know anything about chickens. The one acoufap posted just looked familiar to me.

These Plymouth Rock hens were hanging out outside an old flour mill turned into a museum in Oregon. I'm not sure what breed the rooster is; my mom only kept hens. Roosters are obnoxious.

Nice shot Jason. You notice that most of the sheep are facing away from the sun, so it's not in their eyes when they are eating?

Farm Animal? Not really, but a farm (or bacon factory) is where it should be.
It is owned and walked by the adult (?) son of a neighbour.

Doesn't have to be on a farm to be a farm animal.

Interesting photo Rod It seems to cry out for a caption, but I can't think of one. Hmm .. "Should be a better hookup on Tinder than this one."
