Sure is. It's quite an ethereal image. What lens did you use?

stopped to shoot these three on the way home with a load of firewood - the palomino turned out to be quite the ham...

Enjoying all your shots @PepperberryFarm - keep them coming. I think the cows are getting used to you. Here's that guy with the Pentax again. :-)

There was a very funny 3-panel "Far Side" cartoon, by Gary Larson, that included cows in a pasture.

First panel: a bunch of cows standing around in a field, on their hind legs looking like people chatting at a cocktail party.

Second panel: the same, except the cow standing where it can look up the road passing the farm hollers, "Car!"

Third panel: car passes by with all of the cattle down on all fours grazing, just as they are expected to be.

Anybody remember that one?

Lovely shot Rod. Is that an old steam tractor in the background?

Thanks Des. Yes it is.
My son and I had a delivery to make to Harrietville today and he had heard about this place just off the Great Alpine Road.
Old machinery littering the place.
When I got home I Google Earthed the place and there are gazillions of car bodies further up the hill which we didn't see while we were there.
There was an old implement there which I cannot identify - never seen anything like it. Check it out on page 97 of the Rust thread;

Des, Yes! That's the cartoon. I misremembered the exact panel order, but the effect is the same. When I saw it, it wasn't colored in, just black line on white background.

Rod, those steam tractors powered the threshing machines that went through where my Grandfather farmed 20 miles east of Quincy, Illinois. The neighboring farmers went to the farm where the machine was to help with the threshing operation. If it came to your farm, the women, and anybody else not helping with the threshing work, got 3 big meals ready for the crew. It's said that sometimes threshers hurried up on a farm where the food wasn't as good and dragged out the job where the food was especially good! To this day, around here, if somebody puts out a gigantic spread of food for guests, somebody is liable to exclaim that it's "'nuff for threshers!"
