What a great thread! Thanks for letting me know about it Des!
Here are three sheep shots from Texel in the Netherlands - well known for their sheep breed - taken shortly after lambing (~8 months ago).

(All taken with smc DA 55-300mm on a K-30, then passed through Lightroom)

Welcome Alex. Thanks for sharing these shots. There are not a lot of Texel sheep in Australia or NZ, but they seem to be gaining popularity as a breed. There is a breeder's association here: Australian Texel Stud Breeders Association Inc I gather they are a more common breed in Britain and the rest of Europe.

I guess living on an island is pretty special.

Living on Texel is pretty special indeed, but the ferry runs every hour so its easy to escape
Biking here is fantastic:

I seem to take a particular interest in sheep. Here are some roaming freely on the Isle of Skye (Scotland) that we hiked past on the way to Camasunary this summer:

And this is the context. Not a bad place to be a sheep, I would think.

(all with DA 18-135mm on K-30)

So do I. They are very photogenic.

Nice shots. The sheep certainly look happy, but I suspect that if you asked them in winter, they might prefer to be somewhere else. :-) I went to Skye many years ago - what a beautiful place.

Here are some more shots of the same Hereford bull shown above in post #96. The first is with the K-3 + FA*300 f4.5. The second was taken with a K-30 + DA-L 55-300.

AT least it's farm animal inspired, but I'm not sure my hens would accept this automatron into their flock...

Very nice contributions Rod and Noel.

I think these are Jerseys, in South Gippsland. K-30 + DA-L 55-300.

Your grandfather milked 40 or 50?
One of my dairying uncles had a neighbour who milked over 90 - that was extraordinary in the 1950s, (in my knowledge).
