Just so you know, the plans/trains and autos also had boats in that title. I've posted my other boat shots there.
Hi there, I had a good look through that thread and there were not many sailing craft so that is why I made a dedicated thread for these beautiful vessels. They need to be in a thread of their own not next to the occasional tank.

Thank you for your appreciated contributions.

Yes, I realize why you did this one, just thought I'd clear the air that the other thread/theme had boats too. Just no one actually showed these boats in there.

I like this one better anyway.

Almost a drifter

This is scanned from a slide. Late 1970s.

The skipper later went on to break the world speed sailing record.

Great to see some updates to this thread. With the Northern Hemisphere summer approaching hope there will be more to share.

I have a few more, Arjay. I was usually sailing an A-Class catamaran and not taking photos.

Here's another scan from the late 1970s. This one is an Australis design A-Class blowing past a Flying Dutchman in a one-of-a-kind regatta. The idea is to compare different classes to check the accuracy of yardsticks.

The guy on the A went on to win a few world championships. He made good sails. Goodall Design

Young Endeavour

Something more recent. The port had a visit from Young Endeavour, Australia's sail training ship. I didn't see her under sail, unfortunately.

Regards,
Richard.

Thank you for showing Richard. My daughter had a few days on the young endeavour in the early '90s out of Cairns. To quote her, best thing she had ever done in her life up to then. She was 14. LOL. Now married with a daughter of her own.

Wow! Lucky daughter. The kids on this trip were having a great time swinging on a rope and dropping into the water. She was anchored just off the Nelson Bay marina for a couple of days.

Regards,
Richard.

We had a regatta in April 2016. I only managed a few shots.

We had a storm in June 2016 and some boats didn't handle it as well as others. It pays to have good quality moorings!

Young Endeavour made an unscheduled visit to ride out the storm
