Hi John

Yes the stars ,the moon and the sun
All the elements moved and they still thought the earth was flat

The original Dove dates back to the 1600s. The current Dove replica was built in1978. From what I understand, this one will be a bit more historically accurate, but there will be necessary compromises to meet USCG safety requirements. She is not all that big. The specs are:

Length Overall: 76 feet
Length on Deck: 56 feet
Length at Waterline: 51 feet
Beam: Overall 17 feet
Draft: 7 feet
Tonnage: 42 tons burthen
Height of Main Mast: 64 feet

This is a shot of a Skipjack push boat. By law, working skipjacks cannot be equipped with internal engines; they may only dredge for oysters using sail power. They can use power to transit so most are equipped with a "push boat" which is just that; a small unmanned boat which is connected to a notch in the stern and remotely controlled from the cockpit. Steering is still done using the ship's rudder. It is winched up when not in use or during dredging. So ends this Skipjack lesson.
