Winners!

This was hard to judge, and of course subjective.

I like many of your edits, so here is what i liked the most. Some of you not mentioned are also very close.

Honorable Mentions:

dcshooter: you had the B&W conversion I like the most. Very good!

BertH: "indian summer", you made a drastic color change but still very realistic. I like it a lot!

Arizona Dave, very nice, as i remember the scene but just a little oversaturated reds (and you could have replaced the removed buoys with a few mallards and swans ). Your B&W conversion is very good too.

Top 3:

3rd:
Rimfiredude. Very close to how i remember the scene, just a tiny bit strong greens in the grass.

2nd:
AdamWalk. I really like this color scale a lot, reminds me of my grandfathers 50 years old slides. Very good! Welcome to PentaxForums!

Winner, and next challenge host:
Glenn5995. Your first version was very good already. And in your final framed version you really nailed it, Warm and cool colors in the right places, the exposure is adjusted just as it should (maybe lower right corner could be darkened just a tad).

Very good work all of you, and congratulations to Glenn!!

Thank you LarsW for hosting this challenge, giving us such a wonderful image to work with and for selecting my entry. There were many great entries, good work everyone. I will see what I can come up with for the next challenge. I have a pretty busy schedule the next few days, so please be patient.

---------- Post added 08-03-15 at 03:57 PM ----------

I would like this challenge to one in which we learn from one another and help each other out, so here is my recipe for this image (as best I remember):

I began in Lightroom, where I cropped to get a complete image and then took a little extra off the bottom to get rid of the lumber stacked just below the boats and a little extra off the left to remove the buoy on the far left.

Next I cloned out the stumps, logs and post in the lower portion of the image. Then I cloned out the buoys, line from the boat and their reflections. To accomplish this I used the clone brush in heal mode with 100 opacity and 0 to 60 feather depending on the need.

I made no white balance adjustments. The following overall adjustments were made:

Exposure: +1.00
Contrast +15
Highlights -45
Shadow +15
Whites 0
Blacks -20
Clarity +15
Vibrance +15
Saturation +7

Sharpening was as follows:
Amount: 60
Radius: 1.0
Detail: 35
Masking: 80

Noise reduction:
Luminance: 10
Detail: 50
Contrast: 0

Next were these individual brush adjustments -
To the boats and dock:
Exposure: -0.60
Clarity: 15
Sharpness: 70

To the buildings and trees along the shore:
Highlights: -15
Clarity: 15
Sharpness: 60

To the clouds:
Temp: 8
Exposure: -0.35
Highlights: -40
Clarity: -20
Sharpness: -70
Noise: 75

This image was sent as a TIFF file to Photomatix where I applied the "Vibrant" preset with the following adjustments:
Strength: 100
Tone Compression: 2.0
Lighting Effect: 100
White Clip: 4.0
Black Clip: 3.0
Midtones: -3.0
Color Saturation: 0
Color Temperature: 0
Sharpening: Mild

Next I sent it to PicMonkey as a JPEG, where I increased the Exposure +0.50 and added the frame.

That is it!
