It's a pointless exercise, trust me. I actually use the vacuum cleaner on him from time to time, mostly when I want to get him off me. Cats have a very strong understanding of personal space, but it's only regarding THEIR personal space.

Wonderful photo and a great name that is appropriate for the cat of a photographer.
Thank you. Name comes from a friend, she thought it would be appropriate because I was a mathematician once. My other two cats are Havana and Piscot (Ladyfinger).

Her eyes are so huge! Looks like she may be plotting some mischief under the tree!

I have no doubt that "plotting" was, during Abigail's first few years, the uppermost thought in her tiny, beautiful brain.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Mister Mo Cheeks, the newly adopted cat of my brother's girlfriend. Mo was found on the street by Animal Control, and after spending some time in the clink (where he was neutered) he was sent to a foster home for 8 days until his adoption.

He's a lovely young fellow, very friendly and confident, affectionate, and playful without being overly aggressive. He has an enormous head and almost ridiculously large jowls, which are surprisingly firm. He also has a curious ridge of mixed black and white fur down the center of his back, which has a different height and texture than the rest of his coat.

Unfortunately the weather was not cooperative for the photo shoot, as it was dim, dreary, and drizzly - it was a struggle to AF on a black cat in such lighting! Still, a lot of fun. Mo is such a sweetheart.

I used 3 lenses - F 50/1.7, DA 70/2.4 Ltd, and Tamron SP 180/2.5.

Could he be the last surviving NARAC? (North American Ridgeback Alley Cat)

Cat genes tend to get spread around pretty liberally (libertinely?) as there isn't much directed breeding of them.. So easily possible.

You can trace all sorts of genetic markers around the world and see trade routes, migration routes, etc.I have seen published studies, but not for a while.

That oversize head and cheeks are typical for un-neutered tomcats, so I imagine he's more than a year or so old. Very handsome fellow! Kudos to your brother's girlfriend for giving him a fur-ever home! That funny stripe is very distinctive.

If I knew that cat, I would want him, too. Lovely photo.

Your post prompted me to Google "ridgeback cat" and found others. Pretty neat.
