Got a new Igloo bed for my two kitties and instead of the usual icy irrational refusal to sleep in it..

Sunny and Tigger hop into it right away.

Love it! We must have half a dozen kitty beds in the house (4 cats), only one gets any regular use. One gets occasional use. The people bed, OTOH, gets a lot of use

Try putting a small window sill seed sprouting warmer under the unused ones!

Might try it when the weather cools off a bit...still warmer than usual here, we temporarily turned off the AC because of an all-too-brief cool spell. But the forecast is for hot weather soon. No need to add any heat inside the house! But you're right, generally, cats are heat-seeking missiles. Want to find the warmest place in the house, look for the cat!

I think putting one of my worn undershirts in it encouraged them. If it smells like me, it must be a safe place.

Yes, that often works. If there's a worn shirt somewhere on the bed, one of ours will go straight to it to lie down.

Recently one of them suffered an eye ulcer (she's fine now) and during the time she wasn't feeling well, she spent a lot of time snoozing on one of the bedpillows. As this interefered with R's sleep routine, we gave her a pillow of her own, covered with a towel, at the foot of the bed. She commandeered it almost instantly, and sleeps there for hours and hours, day and night. We've inadvertently created a monster!

Thank you all for this thread. I have been a “cat person” all my life and am currently catless. It is nice to see all these wonderful felines, and read all the comments!

Ours seem to prefer fresh laundry, don't set it on the bed to sort and put away later, it will be covered in cat hair by then

Today Abigail caught spotted lanternfly #16 (confirmed). I actually was able to watch her catch it, and she was surprisingly casual about it.

She also caught another, but she spent too much time playing with it and it eventually escaped.

Here's a silly pic of her with victim #11, I think.

Ours are equal-opportunity laundry snoozers...fresh out of the dryer, not-so-fresh out of the hamper. Doesn't matter, clothes on the bed = kitty lounge

My cat prefers fresh out of the dryer but can make do if forced.
