Ok....to make all the LBA addicts here feel better about themselves.....my news.... I just ordered a HD DFA 150-450. So next months lens is organised...... I should be able get my daily shot without getting out of bed each day.

So since I started setting aside funds for a FF (not sure why I want a FF) I've bought a K85/1.8, K50/1.2, DA10-17, K30/2.8 and now a HD DFA 150-450......about $5,000 worth.....thats it....I'm done.

The HD DFA 150-450 will be my 1st weather proof lens..... I might swim with the whales next year with it....

Ooooh Noel, I *really* look forward to seeing what you do with that beauty!

And to lend some some balance to the equation, my Sigma 8-16 and DA*200 have both gone to new homes, despite them both giving me some really pleasing images during their brief tenure.

The Sigma has gone to Canada (Quebéc), the DA*200 to the Snowy Mountains (Jindabyne).

Ah yes...... I am unsupervised for all of September.....no worrying about being the first to greet the delivery person later in the week!

Upon reflection, the 4th of October could be a bit of a hump day though.....

Further to the discussion of the DA 10-17mm above, and for my own interest, I took photos of the same scene at 10mm and 17mm today to show the results at the fisheye-end and the less distorted end.

Personally, I don't use the lens much for landscapes. My super-resolving, less-distorted K28/3.5 is great for that (including stitches). I find the DA 10-17mm more useful as an urban walk-around in narrow European streets; for a "fun fishy" view; and occasional family/sports/buildings shots at f17. So here is quite a typical scene for my lens, where you can see the range of view and distortions.

Mrs Utak calls this lens the "fishbowl", and has no love for the distortions on the left, so it's not for everyone!

Just five 50s? You sir, have incredible self-restraint.
Of course... mind you I keep bookmarking super tak 50 1.4 early 8 element lenses - but so far haven't pulled the pin on one... Keep asking myself if I'll really pull it out and use it when there is a K1.2 sitting right next to it in the drawer.....

That's not the point... having it and being able to hold it up to the light and peer through it, fondle the sleek curves and marvel at the precision... *That* is the point. Actual images are just icing on the cake.
