Good spot - Currently in NZ - Northland- for the Covid-19 lock down - was travelling and got stuck. So all the new posts for the last 3 months are from northern NZ climates and ecosystems.

Today headed for the woods, with the Lumix ZS100 passing by the feeder

ZS100 bokeh takes a little getting used to.

She stuck her nose behind the tree, just when I pressed the button.

There's nice path behind him, where I can throw the ball.

This is not the way Hobblebush flowers are supposed to look

Wind and rain knocked many flowers to the ground.

The Red Berry Elder

Backed out a bit so you can see more of the plant

Lady slippers pictured here are now fully open, and the fern* frond has unrolled.

*Interrupted fern. The sporangia pictured would be in the middle of the frond's length

Jeannie exploring yet another creek back in Texas - this was one of our favorites - shallow enough for wading

A couple images of lady slippers, some of which are now withered, and a plant I don't know whose young leaves are very pale with a tinge of maroon coloring.

From today's walk.... on flicker there are 23 images, I'll post a few here.
K-1 and DFA 100 macro WR

In keeping with the theme, I found a new patch Lady Slippers 50 meters from my house, I used to have to walk 4 m to get to them.

There was a bit of mud hole wallowing going on as the dogs try to stay cool.

A particular fungus that grows on a particular dead wood. Before it spreads laterally, this fungus looks like a finger.

A few lady slippers are holding on, but most of those pictured have wilted by now. May flower & wild geranium are coming into their own.
