These shelf fungi pretty much disappeared when Winter set in for real. Soon, and none too soon the local woods will be providing a greater variety of photo ops.

Hey Walter, check it out.

Today's dog walk.
We picked up a used 16-85 from a forum member, because Tess was constantly borrowing my 28-105, and her Tamron 17-50 has become unreliable.

So I took it out today, she had some suspicions about de-centreing, but it tested out fine.
I don't know if I'll ever get to use it again but I was mine today.

Tripper runs ahead, and had a rest in the middle of the path.

You can always find few dead leaves for test shots.

The beech tree forest.

Another leaf.

Shadow and light

This "trail" is obviously an old road originally a private access to fields of a farm that is now conservation land. The light at the end of the road is the edge of the field

Leaves on a little American chestnut, a beautiful tree when it gets big, but these saplings will never get a chance to create a shady spot for humans.

The scene after major creek and lake flooding in Grapevine TX in Feb. 2016. The walkway and bridge were underwater. Jeannie can be seen on the bridge far ahead of me

Fungi turning trees into fertilizer. In the first image notice how the fungi grow all around where a large branch was sawed off. Possibly caused by the ease of spores gaining hold in the surrounding bark and the moisture available there compared to the heartwood.
