Here is an old scan from the Pentax 67II with 100/4 Macro...

Second is fruiting liverworts (probably) in moss (I have a book called Mosses, Lichens, and Liverworts so I'm cheating in the liverwort shot). Maybe 400 meters from my front door during a much warmer season.

Last one is Fairybells in moss, probably juniper haircap moss? Also just up the path from my front door during warmer season.

Actual winter shots would be a bit white today...calling for lots of snow on top of the snow that already covers everything...

Another rainy weekend (4th in a row). Conditions were poor, but I had to get out for a click or two.

Glad you did--and did well. It's nice to see buds (none here yet)

From our walk with Tralee on Friday. Looks as though Winter still had a grip on us before the weekend. However warm rain on Sunday cleaned up almost all the ice and snow except for human-made mounds.

Same old fungus, it's hard to find new ones this time of year.

First image from our walk on Friday. The log had been a barrier - not enough clearance to get under unless you got on your belly (Tralee just walked under) but also high enough to be an effort to climb over. Someone, either the people who maintain this area or the snowmobile people took a chainsaw to it since our previous walk here. Thank you!

Second image from this morning (Monday), walking along an old RR RoW. Cold rain on Sunday (just above freezing) cleared off a lot of snow, but many hikers, mountain bikers and snowmobiles pounded the snow here into hard ice, and with the water atop it was very slippery even with our microspikes. Some of the puddles were also 3 or more inches deep, too deep to walk through without waterproof boots.

Most of the time I don't like them much, but those snow mobile people come in handy every now and then. Although I still don't understand the joy of making noise and sucking fumes.

A few more from yesterday. The last pic was taken wide open with my 15 ltd--not necessarily the lens' intended use, but what heck I felt like using it.

Trunks of some trees where we walk are almost encased by lichen and some algae.

Trail bikes (and jetskis) are our bugbear. We try to plan our bush trips to minimise the risk of encountering them. Some of them are pretty flagrant lawbreakers.

A very small stream that almost never goes dry in summer, disappearing briefly under a roof of ice.

I just found this wonderful thread.
I don't have much from forest walks, but I'll have a search.

Here's one from Cradle Valley in Tasmania
