We used to camp a lot but beds and showers become more preferred as the years roll by and joints get creakier. There were not many campers in Algonquin Park last week, partly we think as a result of a fire ban after several weeks of hot weather. A ten-hour deluge last night should set things to rights.

These from the Mizzy lake Trail, usually one of the more productive for wildlife but not on this walk.

This part of the trail used to be a railway line - sending out lumber and bringing in tourists.

Beaver dam

Different part of the park, in the southern panhandle - not so much in Norm's stomping ground.

Taken along an old RR RoW that was paved and is now used by hikers, joggers, cyclists and in winter X-country skiers. We don't walk here too often because our current Sheltie goes bonkers at cyclists and joggers, so we generally only walk this trail when there's a steady rain and only the likes of us are foolish enough to be out.

Today's fitbit walk, I drove to the party, because I'm getting bored with the "usual".

K-1, DA*200 with 1.4 TC.
400 ISO, ƒ5.6, AV

Starting at the Logging Museum, a few Mergansers on the pond..

The prerequisite water lilly shot. There was teen-age girl with her parents, standing there with a Nikon not shooting anything but holding it very prominently. I went and took this water lilly and moved on. Looking back down the trail, there she was , shooting my water lilly from the exact same spot. This kind of thing amuses me to no end.

On the path.

Park Staff reinforcing viewing deck over an old logging chute in preparation for the crowds of the coming "Logging Day."

You can never have too many water lillies.

Over at the Beaver Pond. Originally I didn't see much to take images of, so I started taking images of the people across the lake.

Reading the trail guide, just in case someone wants to know what they are looking at.

Wow, no beaver, but a duck.

I don't know what he's taking a picture of, when I was there, I didn't see anything interesting.

From the lookout looking back at people crossing the pond on the boardwalk.

Of course this fungal appendage only rises up when they are reproducing.

Tarra Bulga National Park, Victoria. This is a small pocket of remnant cool temperate rainforest (from Gondwana times, when Australia was joined to Antarctica) and wet schlerophyll forest. (Some images x-posted)

Damp of late, so the mossy spats on trees are a lovely lush green.

New month, new contest, lots of posting to be done. I'll start this morning with two posts here. Many mushrooms up in the woods at the moment.

And here is another. I spent quite a lot of time on this mushroom because I liked the setting.
