Another patch of gaywings from some days back, and foam atop a spring-fed flow, just after it tumbles over a fallen tree that must have been lying in the way for half a century or more. There's an imperfect repeated pattern in the foam.

I don't know if you were on the forum when Bob Harris was here, ( an enthusiastic photographer with an almost unbearable love of over-processing everything) but when I posted pictures like this he used to call them pictures of moose piss. Ah the good old days.

Yes, an avid RV'er and nice guy - and yes, most of his photos were on the "vivid" side. Whatever happened to him?

HIs wife became ill, they had to change their life style and become a lot less nomadic. He tried to rekindle his interest in photography after they settled down and actually posted a couple of just excellent shots, but without the travel element, I don't think his heart ever got back into it. I sure wish I'd written down the places he went around Arizona etc. He found some amazing places to shoot. I always intended to have him send me a list in case I could ever swing a road trip down there.

But my relatives (<cough> free place to stay ,<cough>) have sold their place in Arizona and moved back to Canada, so my big exploration of Arizona is unlikely now, in any case. He was one of my "best buds" here for a number of years. His photo post processing skills weren't up to par, but his enthusiasm was infectious. I used to keep close watch on his work, looking for images I could in good conscience compliment, and there were a few.

The last two or three shots he posted were actually exceptional. I really hoped he'd get back into it and start hanging out again. He knew next to nothing about photography and really didn't care, but he loved sharing pictures and stories of his RV adventures. Another favourite old timer was DaveM from Alberta who seems to have suffered a parallel fate with the same result. A long absence, a brief attempt to return, then fade to black. I think some of these guys are afraid to become a stereotype of themselves, posting the same type of image year after year.

That never bothered me.

From our walk a few hours back. Bluets are fading but they still decorate some stretches of the old woods roads, lady slippers are just about at their peak, clintonia and wild geranium becoming prominent.

Buttercups are everywhere at the moment. Some meadows are just packed with them. The bluets are from a couple weeks back. They are staring to go by even though the blossoms endure longer than the majority of Spring flowers.

Not as long a walk today.
I took the K-1 and DA*200
It's different without macro

There was low light and the forest images are high ISO and wide aperture, but, you gotta do what you gotta do.

The first few are potted plants from the porch just because they were there.

The trilliums are fading.

Jesse

Undergrowth of ferns and a nice patch of pink lady slippers from a few days back. I would not be surprised to find the flowers withered by now.

False Solomon's seal. I wanted to post this with the two images above but for some reason the file wouldn't open properly.

The bugs are out, it's tough to hold still long enough to get much.

K-3 and DFA 100 macro.
