I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever lost in the bush and starving.

It reminds me of that old question and answer.
"Why are the Chinese so good at herbal medicine?"
"They've had such a long history and so many famines, they've eaten everything that grows in the country."

What am I going to do with all these slime moulds and scrambled eggs? (to the ending theme of Frasier)

Awesome about the ID, I thought it looked like one but I've never actually seen one. If you love slime moulds you should check out the collective.

The wintergreen is pretty, I remember it from when I was a kid. Please post some Indian pipes! I haven't seen one in years.

Some Indian pipe from our walk this morning (Sunday, 26th). Not the best I've seen. I did spot some batches that had withered to pitiful little brown stalks, so I may have missed the peak for these interesting plants.

Two mushrooms. A small bit of rain, erratically distributed locally, have brought up some mushrooms

A patch of ferns, always pleasant to come upon when we're out on our walk.
