I do not normally like to wolves in a zoo. I can not see how they would be happy not being able to roam freely over vast acres of land. However the Mexican Grey Wolf is endangered, boarding on critically endangered. Captive breeding through zoos is mostly the only chance this species will have of survival. Shortly before I took this photo his mate had died. I sure hope they found him another one.

jack pot

the newest animals on permanent exhibit at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center are the Eurasian Eagle Owls Bubo bubo

Eurasian Eagle Owl (Bubo bubo) - Information, Pictures, Sounds - The Owl Pages

( the biggest owls in the world by weight ) they went on exhibit in Dec ' 17 or Jan ' 18

today I found one perched on the branches in an open space instead of being obscured by the needles of the fir tree

these are all SOC

I like the interaction of light and shadow on the Eurasian Eagle Owl

and the " framing " formed by the branches and needles of the tree at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center
