Thanks! I will check with my wife. I don't recall if we have booked it.
Another win for the SI family! I have just booked a sunset tour of Stonehenge on 13th July thanks to Bill's recommendation.
It would not have happened otherwise

I love you guys.

I've been out due to a medical. Back on the 9th, my left leg became completely paralyzed from the waist down. Along with it, is a lot of pain if I do anything. Anyway, I've been stuck to a wheel chair or a walker since. They think it's a pinch nerve, but I'm dealing with the VA hospital which can take forever. I've been trying to get in some type of shots each day. It's the only thing that keeps my mind off of it. I just don't have the energy to post them. Hope to be back in the game as soon as I can.
Sounds horrid. Best wishes, mate.

I remember being surprised by how different Stonehenge appeared in real life in comparison the the many dramatic photos I'd seen. By that I mean it was not quite as tall or wide as I'd expected, and the location was not isolated in the middle of some vast plain, but that shows you what proper composition does for a subject. The Great Pyramids outside Cairo gave me a similar feeling, they are practically in the back yards of a western neighborhood, but few photographs show that view. I am sure I had my K1000 with me at the time. Where did I put those photos?

Stonehenge was still well worth seeing in person, I only wish that the weather had been other than the uniform grey sky, and rain. I hope you enjoy your trip, I look forward to seeing your pictures when you return.

Just curious, how many of you skip an opportunity because you don't have "the right lens" on your camera?

It happens, but I will usually try to get the shot anyway and make the best of it in post either by cropping or by doing a pano. May times I will come back with I had just taken something else with me such as a fisheye or a longer telephote but I still try to get something out of it.

I usually try to do the best I can with what I have, BUT I always carry a complimentary spare shooter with me. Most often it's my tiny Sony Cyber Shot WX350. The IQ is a little lacking, but it has a zoom range equivalent to 24-500mm, and it's about the size of a deck of cards. (And if nothing else, I always have my very convenient cell phone.)

I won't turn my nose up at lost DR and digital noise and miss the shot... I'll gladly pay that price and get something to take home!

Like this cute one of Fannie in the groomer's tub yesterday. 200mm would not have done it, but the Note 4 did fine. :-)

Lol!! That dog looks happy to have spaghetti for hair. Lol!

Same as everyone else. I try my best to make it work if i see a shot. But i have missed both the fisheye and a longer telephoto a few times. Usually dawn/dusk shots or a horse/cow/tree in the distance. The images i see are fleeting, and often spotted while driving, so i don't usually get a chance to come back to get it. In the past if i have a telephoto on, i will try to bring my q along just in case. But have been shooting mainly in portrait fl mode atm, and haven't really brought along a spare for just in case. I should though. My K-50 is just collecting dust while i put the k-s2 through its paces.

Yeah it happens. Whenever I get up to speed on stitching I suspect that will help when the lens is too long. Too short is a little harder. But I am also learning to look for shots that fit the lens I am using. And I may carry another lens or 2 if I am thinking ahead.
