Challenge #179 - Zion National Park

Welcome to Pentax Forums Post Processing Challenge #179. The subject of your image is the Virgin River flowing toward the Watchman under stormy skies in Zion National Park, viewed from Canyon Junction. I shot the image in three brackets, so I will provide you all three brackets. You may use any one or combination as you see fit.

I will close this challenge around 4:00 AM MST on Tuesday April 18 and try to have the results by that evening. I apologize in advance, because next week will be a very busy for me as I prepare to depart mid-week for a two week trip (honoring 30 years of marriage to a wonderful woman who has been a blessing to me and tolerated me all these years!) and therefore most likely will not have time to comment on each entry, but I will get a host selected for the next challenge. I look forward to what you can come up with for this image. Let the fun begin!

All done in the Nik Collection with the under exposed image. Looks as if it could be a dangerous time to be there.

A last effort.

The goal was natural looking hdr... Not sure if it's been achieved... Started in Photomatix with all three, tweaked the natural preset, then into Rawtherapee for minor tweaks, then into gimp 2.9 for some more experimental tweaks... Have been playing with the latest 2.9 build and happy to see that it's finally speeding up a little bit when doing 16-bit editing... Definitely more usable than last time I tried it... Not much sleep last night so eyes are tired and buggy, so will probably take another pass at this later in the week...

one of those images you could go on tweaking forever - I'll start with a moderately naturalistic version, with a bit of extra depth, hopefully

great attention to detail - like the 'miniaturisation' of the landscape around the central joke - excellent work (as what it is - no comment on challenge either way ;D)

Did this one on my laptop, as I'm on the road for a couple of weeks. Not sure how the brightness and saturation look. Compared to the other entries, I think it is over cooked.

another pass... same steps from yesterday up through the rawtherapee stage then into gimp and silver efx... wasn't going to post it because it's too dark in some areas, but i'll replace it if I get another wind to try again...

Basic Camera Raw adjustments -> HDR Efex Pro -> Photoshop, Camera Raw filter - Gradient map layer and local adjustments. Sharpening.
