PP Challenge 182 - Northern lights

Thank you todd for the last round!

Last two years we've had good conditions here in Sweden to see and shoot the Aurora Borealis (northern lights).

Now from May to August the nights are too bright to be able to see the northern lights. So while waiting for the darkness let's play with this image from a month ago.

K-5 - Samyang 16mm f/2.0 - f/2 - 8s - ISO1600

The challenge will end Friday morning May 20th (when all timezones have friday)

I assumed this is closer to what you saw after cleaning out the shadows, telephone poles, etc.

I thought the foreground was distracting.

Very nice shot! I agree with Rimfiredude that the foreground was distracting... I tried to make it as realistic as possible; which was a bit tricky, since I've never actually seen the Aurora Borealis in real-life!

Nice photo, did some correcting on background distractions and color. I think it is closer to what you saw.

I would love to see the Aurora Borealis in person someday.

Another attempt at an essentially realistic reading, with the stars slightly enhanced.
