So, did they mount those big fans to push the clouds up and over the mountains?

I like those complementary colors in you last shot.

Camera features for cloudscapesI've done more video than still photography but I sometimes find myself jumping out of the car at dusk to capture a beautiful western cloudscape in Atlanta and would like to do this with a good camera. Are there any particular features I should look for in a camera to do this--plus general photography and videography? I will probably look for a good used camera.
Probably a camera with good dynamic range. Since you're posting here I suspect you're considering a Pentax camera? you can't go wrong with them, pretty much every modern Pentax camera has very good dynamic range, but then you need some technique to take the shot and afterwards for post-processing.

Thank you. It wasn't a bright red sunrise but still beautiful, pale pinkish turning to goldish Awesome series by you with the rainbow. I like the third one best.

That's what it was. Some one must have gotten tired of all the rain

Thank you for the kind words

The topic is cloudscapes, but what people like is sunsets. Just like the craft shows, they look at all your images, but they buy sunsets and wildlife.

Thanks, as much as it looks like I have done some tom-foolery in post, that glow from the bottom of the rainbow was right out of the camera. I don't think I had ever seen a rainbow display like it; or one since!

Thanks taks! We used to live just a couple blocks from that location and would visit a few times a week. Since then we've moved across town so visiting boathouse row is now almost a special occasion.

Welcome to PF John. I think this is probably a topic for a separate thread, but here is a quick response. You'll see that people here have used a range of cameras (and lenses). For a used camera, one of the Pentax flagship models may be your best bet - their rugged build makes them a safe buy, and they don't suffer from the aperture block failure that can strike a number of the entry level Pentax models. If your budget will run to it, look for a K-3 or K-3ii. Otherwise the K-5 series - the K-5iis being the pick of them. Think about the lens(es) too - plenty to read on PF about suitable lenses.

This shot is from western Tasmania. K-3 + DA 12-24
