The Blue Ridge Parkway in the NW corner of North Carolina is our pathway to a few small towns for supplies and shopping. The edge of the Blue Ridge Escarpment is a last obstacle for storms organizing heading toward the foothills and Piedmont of NC, VA and the Atlantic Coast states. Summer clouds begin shaping early in the day forming all types and configurations. Some of the images from today heading North through Doughton Park

Caught in a Rain Shadow

Gulf moisture is being pumped over the midcontinent region, in turn producing these cumulonimbus clouds with some imbedded showers.
