Earlier I saw the first photo (pre-dawn), but not the 2nd with the clouds. Now I only see the cloud photo.

I took out the first one.

Trying again. Pre-dawn looking SSW. 90 degrees to the East, the clouds were much more distinctly variegated, but in this direction they were a wash behind the trees. K110D, SMC Pentax-A f2 50mm, iso800, etc. Focus is on the color and more distant trees.

This Thematic thread was a great idea, Steve! Even though I only recently got back to view it, I went through all 37 pages. We usually have 'less weather' here. Clouds here are most times higher up and more homogeneous (read: dab gray) than closer to the sea, especially in winter, which adds all the more excitement when there's a lot of structure or contrast in the sky. I'm amazed e.g. by Noel's (noelcm's) or Tom's (ramseybuckeye's) dramatic clouds, but also by some of Cosmin's (Hattifnatt's) great compositions of foreground and clouds.
