In Illinois if is rare to see a windmill with all of the vanes left on it now. It has always seemed to me that one of the major changes in the rural landscape happened in the mid-1970s, when the windmills began to much more quickly disappear, at the same time that the gigantic television satellite dishes seemed to replace them.

Seems like most of the working ones are on Amish Farms

We've had some interesting clouds this week,
Looking almost due East from the Winslow Ferry Dock:

I like the way this sums up the area for me, Big city, but just a short boat ride away, a cozy, quiet little get away.

And this is almost the same angle as my shot of Rainier above,

The Mountain is under those two cloud peaks in the center-left. I thought that tulip shaped cloud to the right had to be preserved.

My bro-in-law lives in Winslow. The several times we've been able to visit we take the ferry. Once we drove in through Poulsbo, with a stop at Bloedel. It is a beautiful area.

We went to the Bremerton Blackberry Festival couple of weekends ago

Sooner or later we are going to run into each other, I keep an eye out for Pentaxes
My wife and I were in Bremerton that weekend documenting the Wayzgoose printers, using the "steamroller" to make big linoleum prints.
We were there on Sunday morning. It's about an hour's drive for us from home.

Your shot from the Walla Walla is as you are running around the south end of the island; Eagle Harbor, where the Bainbridge ferries (usually the Wenatchee and the Tacoma) dock, is about 1/3rd of the way up the island from where your shot is from. But a very similar angle.
We certainly live in a special part of the world

My bro-in-law lives in Winslow

Winslow is about as close to a town as you get on the island, the rest of it is pretty sleepy bedroom community, mostly retirees, or folks like me that commute to Seattle for work.
I've lived in a lot of parts of the world, this one really appeals to me.
Bloedel is a great photo spot, any time of the year,

I saw a few other cameras, mostly cell phones, But I did not see another Pentax,
I was running around with my K3 and K5 alternating between them, was a shooting stills with the K3 and some short B-roll video clips of stuff while my wife shot the main video,

The crew in my photo is from a group here on the island that was invited to participate, my wife works with the organization's media studio, she got roped into doing the video, and I tagged along.

I like #1 best, the tighter cropping emphasizes the shared shapes between the clues and the hills, Been nearly 40-years since I was in Yellowstone, need to get back there some time.
