I tend to shoot manhole covers wherever I am. Let's make this a topic for manhole covers around the world:

BTW the gender neutral term for them is inspection chamber covers,a mouthful but you don't want to fall foul of the PC Police!!

I am not familiar with the slang meaning of the term manhole cover, but inspection chamber cover would make it internationally less understandable. In Dutch it is called putdeksel.

The cover has 400KN marked on it. If that is the weight ( Kilo Newton), then two things are shocking. Firstly, for once, someone actually knows what the unit of weight and force is in the SI Metric system (which does not equal kilograms). And secondly, that is an outrageous amount of weight. Or perhaps that is how much load it can carry. What does it say before 400KN?

It is the EU standard En124 for wheel loading. That is a 40 Tonne wheel loading
Google "En124 manhole.."

The manhole covers around here get stolen from the streets for sale as scrap,
and the city has to put construction cones then replace them at taxpayer expense.
