I know what you mean, most of my favorite lenses are below 28mm, I like to take it all in. In that last two years I noticed that I often cop the wide open spaces of a scene shot with a 17mm or 21mm quite a bit to call attention to whatever it was that really makes the shot. It's still a landscape, but one with a point of interest, which suggests that I could have used a lens like a 28mm, (or even my beloved 40mm XS) and gotten what I really wanted out to the shot with less cropping. It's made me consider composition more, and broadened my definition of "landscape" photos
I have an old SMC-A 28-135mm that weighs a lot, but takes great shots and is often my "walk-around" lens when I'll be in a variety of locations. It opens to 2.8, and is nice and sharp, so I'll lug it around for the payoff in clarity and bokeh.
