Do traction engines count? These were on an old sheep ranch in Patagonia.

Great photos.

It always saddens me to see the old machines cast aside, and allowed to decay back into the Earth from which they were wrought.

A pink Deere.

Now I've seen it all.

I've seen Ford tractors painted Deere green. I've seen riding mowers painted Deere green. I've even seen cars and pickups painted Deere green.

But I've never seen a Deere painted pink.

I never.

This was the first one I'd seen, too. Funny thing, though, is that a few months later I saw a second one at another tractor show; at first I thought it was the same one, but on closer examination it was the same model of Deere but a different owner, and a slightly different shade of pink. That show was more crowded and it was getting plenty of attention so I didn't get a picture of it, though.

Have to agree with the discussion about the oddity of Deere equipment painted any colour other than green. When my wife's farming cousin talks about buying more "green paint" he's not talking about freshening up the outside of a barn.

On the topic of brightly coloured farm equipment, I posted some other tractor images back in the fall, but I don't think I posted any of this 1918 La Crosse Tractor Company Model B 12-24 "Happy Farmer". A nice bright orange that would sure be outstanding in its field.

And finally, with the discussion of traction engines - I have a few family photos from the 1920's and 30's in Saskatchewan with various pieces of farm equipment, including some traction engines. The black and white image is from around 1924, may be more appropriate for a different thread but I thought the readers of this discussion would enjoy.

What else would you do when you have a bunch of folks visiting but show off your Rumely OilPull to the ladies? The woman holding the steering wheel is my grandmother, and the woman in the middle of the three ladies on the ground is my great-grandmother.

A line of red tractors at a country fair:

It was a straight line, until I attacked it at close quarters with a Pentax 10-17 Fisheye Lens at 10mm.

All good. Old photos of old tractors fit right in.

The front of my 2-N, note homade hardware cloth screen to keep stuff from poking into the radiator.
