similar photos are posted #953 in Wetness...If the Subject is Water - PentaxForums.com

kept looking for the classic photo of steam surrounding a bison but wrong time of year, a long time guide told me those are usually in the winter but I did get some of single bison with vaporized breath

see #5961 in this thread

Glad you left it. It's a superb shot.

Your shots from Yellowstone are excellent too. Thanks for sharing.

when I first saw this scene, I formed an impression

and it hasn't changed

the bison (buffalo) are standing in pit bunkers on a Scottish golf course

[ I don't play golf, have never been to Scotland (yet) and I know it is snow but - - - ]

photo 2 shows ( but not very well ) the grizzly I really wanted to photograph

K 3 + HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW [ Focal Length 450.0mm (35mm equivalent: 675mm) ]

no. 2 - K 3 + HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm F4.5-5.6 ED DC AW + HD Pentax-DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter [ Focal Length 630.0mm (35mm equivalent: 945mm) ]

supported by my modified stedistock II ( and yes, they were a long long way out perhaps I need to rent this next time: HD Pentax-DA 560mm F5.6 ED AW )
