Post your Telephoto Landscapes!

I noticed there is no thread for this type of photos, but it is quite different from the "usual" wide angle landscape photos. So let's see some landscape photos taken with telephoto lenses!

I don't know where exactly the cutoff would be, but I would say at least 50mm on APSC, 75mm on FF. They can be different processing styles, different perspectives, contain buildings or models or animals, whatever, as long as the main feature of the photo is the landscape and the lens used was telephoto! And feel free to post photos taken with other formats, like 645 or Q, just keep it telephoto
This style of landscapes gives a different perspective, different compression, and different composition than the traditional wide and ultra wide angle landscapes.

I'll post a couple photos I took with the 100mm to start things off!

Pag view

Asymetric composition

Dead sea view

Through plastic

I can't wait to see your contributions, and hope this thread grows!

Interesting idea, and some nice shots, Na Horuk. What about zooms? I went looking for possible photos for posting and this was the first one I found. Taken with a Sigma 28-90 at 90mm:

Sounds like a great and interesting thread.

Often, people will take a picture of, say, a tree and call it a landscape. Perhaps, but a landscape is typically a grand, sweeping view with a horizon. Isolating a feature of the land and filling the frame with a tree, mountain, rock, etc with no horizon I think is really a portrait. But YMMV.

Great idea for a thread! I've taken a number of landscape photos with my 77mm Limited that I'm very happy with:

Mule Ears, Big Bend National Park. 77mm Limited, f/11

I also have a number from my 55-300, most "out the window of the moving car" shots:

Montana. 55-300 @ 55mm, f/11.

Badlands National Park. 55-300 @ 300, f/11

For me, the best opportunities for telephoto landscapes, by far, are out of airplane windows:

California coast. 77mm f/2.5:

Pacific Northwest stratovolcano. 55-300 @ 170mm, f/4.5.

Seascape at 300mm

I'll echo the sentiments above; a great idea for a thread. I'd not thought too much about it, but I do have a lot of telephoto 'scapes'.

This first image was captured with the DA*300 before sunrise. FYI, the colours were natural, not done in post.

One of my favorite landscape lenses is not even close to being a wide angle, the DA*60-250. These are a couple of recent shots.

Fog and a wide aperture

A popular thread already this one.

This was captured using the Zeiss 2/100 wide open.

I love the compression the tele creates here between the barn and the mountain.

Wow, this thread is taking off! Great photos!
Yeah, the compression and perspective on the landscape are different because of the telephoto character.

Here is one with DA L 50-200mm, cropped a bit:

Alpine sunset

And another with DFA 100mm

Nice Seascape, I love the magenta moon. The tele makes all the difference with this type of scene.

Here's a shorescape with the DA*300 taken after sunset. An awesome lens IMHO.
