Nice shot of the marsh. The GBH in the corner kind of anchors the image & keeps the viewers eye in the frame.

Thanks. It might seem that I'm spending all my time in Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Glacier NP, even Nevada, but that's merely because on a week and a half trip to those places I took nearly 4,000 shots and I've only just finished post-processing the one's I'm keeping.

Here's a shot taken on my last morning at Yellowstone (an hour or so before heading back home) of Lewis Falls, shot with the DFA 28-105 at 105mm:

Sounds like a great trip. So much to shoot so little time.

Very nice, how do you rate the lens - I've heard it is very soft, but with very nice colors?

Beautiful landscape! Like the color contrast created by the yellow leaves and the blue/green tones above them.

Here's something that's often forgotten about many consumer grade telephoto zoom lenses, both old and new. They're often fairly decent stopped down toward the wide end. Unfortunately, a lot of people buy them for their reach and/or for what they can do wide-open, where they are at their worst. The FA-J 75-300 is no exception. It's not good wide-open, and it's definitely soft at 300mm. But at f11 to f16 in the 85mm to 175mm range (on FF), it's actually pretty sharp edge to edge, with nice color and contrast. In other words, it works well as a telephoto landscape lens, but not for much else.

Here's a shot of some rather fine detail shot at 190mm, f14 (perhaps a bit past its sweat spot) using the K-1:

"Oh We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside"

I saw this impending scene and thought this...

So, just let me be, beside the seaside

I'll be beside, myself with glee
