The cross-posted image was captured with my RMC Tokina 500 mm mirror lens on my Pentax K-S2 at 1000 ISO and 1/1000.

Here is one I took in 1961 with a very basic viewfinder camera, shot from the hip as it flew by.

Gull caught with a simple Retinette, on the fly, being chased by it's shadow
Rushcutter's Bay Sydney 1961. Without a telephoto, a crop was needed here. I doubt I would have had the highest speed of 1/250 set so one can still see movement in the wing tips

jquill, that osprey shot is beautiful, as is the Great Egret shot after it. Also liked the shot of the egret gate-crashing the osprey on the top of the post. Curious to know if you pan on a tripod/monopod, or shoot these handheld?
