Just remember, if you do a bad job they'll never ask again

That being said, remind them that it is a service that people make a living on....

For example I photographed some family friends - I charged a paltry $250 including prints. She's now telling everyone how wonderful I am, but I reminded her that if I actually charged the going rate it would actually be $600 for the time and prints I provided. Be careful what you do to yourself

agreed - and as of yet, I don't have a location where they want the shots done, so have no idea for lighting, set-up......

Nice I just did my first paid shoot two weeks ago. Engagement photos for a co-worker. Since I had no idea on what price to charge. I must likely under charged but that is a big learning point. As the more paid shoots you do the more you can standardize your price. In the beginning it is a major feeling out time to see what works.

My advice Bring a flash or something to smooth out lighting. I can't stress that enough. It will make your life easier.

And I finished my first roll. Will be picking it up Thursday from my local lab.

A little flash cant be stressed enough. I used an Apollo 48" soft box with the AF 540 FGZ to fill in camera right side, and create a catch light of Pro proportions.

Well, you've taken many great pix in the area, you might watn to revisti a few of those, and think about what they might look like with people in them. One shot should definitely be from the mailbox.

I bought another Tamron 28mm Adaptall lens, but just for the adapter since it was far too cheap to pass up - it's a lens that I don't need, so I'll be flipping it almost as soon as it arrives....

Seasonally appropriate... right now it is being printed up and pasted to the front of holiday greetings to be mailed all over the country

Gekko, eh? "Film is good; film works." Unfortunately we are getting rained on by the trailing edge of the Mega-Hurricane (I think my town got something like 180mm of rain yesterday), and so I dare not take my film cameras outdoors.

Missed the 10th, and almost missed the 11th, but decided to post a safety. Due to the size, I'm not taking the 70-200 many places with me and I missed some great fog this morning and a sunset this evening. You know what they say about the best camera being the one you have with you!
