"Macro" shot with the DA*300/4

I don't have a macro lens ... sometimes the DA*300/4 does the trick.

Not the greatest "macro" for sure but contributing to the pollinator thread!

Finally! Decent shots of a Sphecodes bee - in the Halictus genus. On boneset - I think.

I decided to see what would the result be if I heavily cropped and pp some photos taken with the K 3 and the D FA 100 mm Macro

the top photo shows the finished product
the bottom photo shows what I started with

not too bad considering I wasn't right on top of the insect when I took the original photos

Have you thought of giving your old 70-300 macro a try on these images? It may not be quite as sharp , but making the image larger will make up for that.

great suggestion, you are right about using the Tamron we will see

so many lens

I have been concentrating on the newest lens I have and those I plan on taking on our trip to see whales in Baja in February

you are right about using the Tamron we will see

in actuality this was a test of the 100 mm macro taking a long shot and then cropping close to see how well the image would stand up

Usually, the bees or wasp do not attack, if:
- They are not annoyed (nobody is trying to open the hive close)
- You are not doing anything to annoy them (banging over head with camera or disturbing from collecting nectar, shouting, running, etc)
- You do not smell strongly (does not matter, sweet or sweat)

They usually simply goes on their work.

Good luck taking shots
